1、Selection of oil
Oil viscosity is a very important property of engine oil. Reasonable selection of oil viscosity is the key to correct lubrication of engine. Therefore, great attention should be paid to the selection of oil viscosity level. Because the oil grade is divided by viscosity, the oil grade should be selected correctly based on the local ambient temperature. The selection of engine oil should also be based on the working conditions and operating environment of the engine, and the oil viscosity and quality grade should be considered. The viscosity of oil has a great influence on the working reliability and durability of the engine. The viscosity is too low, the oil pressure of the engine is too low, the oil film cannot be maintained at the parts to be lubricated, the lubrication function is lost, and even the engine will enter the critical lubrication state, which will increase the wear of the engine, and even cause cylinder pulling, bearing burning, axle holding and other accidents; The viscosity is too large, it is difficult to start the engine cold, the oil pressure is high, but the flow is slow, and it can not reach the lubricating part quickly, so the wear increases. The principle of selecting oil viscosity is to "use low viscosity oil as far as possible under the condition of ensuring that the engine is under liquid lubrication".
The viscosity of the oil changes with temperature. The viscosity of oil should be selected in consideration of geographical and seasonal temperature changes. The oil with lower viscosity is generally used in the north of China, while the oil with higher viscosity is used in the south; Use oil with higher viscosity in summer and oil with lower viscosity in winter. The engine oil with low viscosity should be selected for new vehicles, and the engine oil with high viscosity should be selected for vehicles with years of use.

Because the engine design requirements are increasingly high, small, light and tight, the anti-wear requirements of oil are higher. The oil film of 40 oil is thicker than that of 30 oil, so the oil company developed 10W/40,To meet the requirements of the north and south.
2) The applicable temperature range of 10W/40 is - 30 to 40 degrees, but for regions with extremely low winter temperatures in Russia and Central Asia north of Inner Mongolia and Tianshan Mountains in Heilongjiang Province, it is recommended to use 5W/40 or 5W/30. 20W/50 is recommended for areas with extreme high summer temperatures in Southeast Asia and Africa.
